Phantom Blade Zero Getting-started Guide

Phantom Blade Zero is now available on PC and PS5, as shown on the official website. This guide separates the developer’s pre-release explanations from details that still need final-game verification, including difficulty, the 66-day story premise and exploration.

What should I know before exploring Phantom Blade Zero?

The developer’s pre-release explanations confirm returning to earlier areas with bells, opening some blocked paths with new weapons, and an intentionally approximate ink-wash map. Finishing an area’s boss does not necessarily finish its exploration. These points come from the October 8 developer Q&A; they do not supply a final region-by-region route or collectible list.

Is Phantom Blade Zero out? Why October 28 and 29?

The game is released on PC and PS5. S-GAME’s official launch trailer announced the game unlock for October 29, 2026 at 10:00 Beijing time (02:00 UTC), which is October 28 at 19:00 PDT. The two dates describe the same announced instant. Pre-loading began 48 hours earlier; those downloaded files did not provide early access.

The same official trailer places the PS5 physical edition in 2027; it does not give a specific date. That is a separate schedule from the October 2026 digital launch.

How much SSD space do I need for the PC pre-load?

S-GAME’s October 26 Steam announcement describes the game as approximately 145 GB and asks PC players to reserve at least 300 GB of free space for pre-loading. Prepare for the pre-load space requirement when choosing your SSD.

The announcement recommends installing on an SSD. These PC space figures do not establish the PS5 download size. Check your purchased platform’s library for its download availability.

In the newer October 28 launch letter, S-GAME says the day-one update is approximately 5 GB, with ray tracing and path tracing performance improvements and bug fixes. If you pre-loaded, install the update before playing; a fresh download includes the latest version. The letter does not specify a separate patch size for each platform.

NVIDIA driver advice, checked October 29: S-GAME reports performance instability with driver 621.01 and currently recommends 617.42. If you installed a newer driver, its advice is to roll back to 617.42 with the clean installation option and stay there until NVIDIA’s next driver update. This replaces the earlier general advice to update drivers; it is specific to NVIDIA and may change with a later official notice.

The separate PC system requirements copy the official minimum, recommended, ray tracing and path tracing tiers. Redeem-code questions are on the codes clarification; this guide does not list daily codes.

Is there a 66-day time limit on your first playthrough?

No. Phantom Blade Zero’s 66-day premise is narrative on the first run. In the October 8 developer Q&A published by RPGamer, Soulframe Liang explains that the 66 days are a story premise on the first playthrough. New Game Plus unlocks a separate Sixty-Six Days challenge with Hellwalker difficulty and a limit of 66 deaths. The story premise is not a countdown that rushes your first-run exploration.

Does Phantom Blade Zero have an easier difficulty option?

Yes. S-GAME’s August overview describes Wayfarer as the option for players who want to enjoy the story. The announced difficulty choices let players choose the challenge rather than assuming a single fixed difficulty.

For a greater challenge, Hellwalker features more advanced, adaptive enemy intelligence. The overview also names Sixty-Six Days, the separate challenge explained above.

Do I need Sixty-Six Days for platinum or all achievements?

The director’s September 9 post says the ordinary difficulties, including the easiest, allow all achievements and a one-run platinum; Sixty-Six Days is not required. For community-reported quest deadlines, see the missable trophy warnings.

What exploration has Phantom Blade Zero confirmed?

Steam’s official description mentions secrets, hidden passages and mechanisms. S-GAME’s August overview also describes secrets within the Wulin. This confirms exploration features, but it does not provide the coordinates or area boundaries needed for a reliable interactive map.

For the developer’s explanation of returning to earlier areas and opening paths with new weapons, read the map and exploration notes.

Can side quests change story paths?

In S-GAME’s official overview, the developer says completing some side quests may open new story paths. The missables guide separately attributes later community reports about quest cutoffs and ending preparation.

What should I check before advancing the story?

Use the missables and points of no return guide for separate Mirage Estate and Last Chance Bell checks. Named prerequisites are folded behind spoiler warnings; community reports are not a guarantee for your save.

For item types, read Collectibles. Finding a location, satisfying a quest flag and earning a trophy are different tasks.
